What your God has laid on my heart to tell you today is this: Do this one thing, and everything else will work out.
What’s the one thing? What is the one thing that God says if you do this, it will all work out?

Today I want to talk with you about Being a Good Fishing Buddy. This is a short and simple sermon of great importance that I pray you will take to heart.
If you’ve ever been stuck on a fishing trip with someone that you should have never gone fishing with, you understand how important this is.

The temptation in your fishing for Christ expeditions is to try to chum someone in. To try to make it all attractive and sound like God will give them money and all kinds of stuff. But then when God doesn’t “perform” the way you want Him to perform, you get frustrated!
God doesn’t settle for big crowds. He is looking for one fish at a time.

Here’s what you need: You need a response to people of why you have hope in Jesus, and you need a life that shows it. 
That when others look at you, deep down they know you live what you believe and it is good. Even though on the surface they criticize you or make fun of you, or talk down to you, they have nothing to really say.

 

What if you miss out on the greatest adventure of your Christian life? 
That would be like a bird never flying, it just sits on the ground its entire life. Then finding out this whole time it could have been soaring way up high.
The greatest adventure, most exhilarating undertaking, the greatest quest is this: The search and rescue mission for the human soul.

The story of Jesus is so big, so powerful, that it is a deeply intimate story. It’s about God, the Creator of the Universe and beyond, Who Chose You—To Be His.
It’s the story of God, who is so BIG, not just choosing a nation, not just choosing a group of people, but God choosing individuals—every individual. God chose to make it possible for anyone and everyone who wants Him, to have Him. Not to have Him as THEY want Him. But to have Him and love Him AS HE IS.

God made a way for you to leave your life of brokenness, imprisonment, entrapment, and pain behind you. 
You are called into a new life of freedom, wholeness, purpose, meaning, hope, health, friendship, true intimacy, adventure, and so much more in the Kingdom of God!
God chose you—to deliver you.

Some people come into God’s Kingdom and struggle:
• with depression, 
• struggle to feel connected. 
• They have a hard time hearing from God. 
• They never get to see God do something tangible. 
• They get stuck watching everyone else do their part. 

Eventually, they don’t even believe being in His Kingdom matters. So they fall away discouraged, never knowing what the problem was.
God has chosen you, to send. To send you into this world with His message.

The Bible is the story of God’s pursuit of you. It’s the story of what God has been willing to do to find you. 
When you pick up this book and begin to read all the way from Genesis, the story of Creation, The Flood, The Tower of Babel, Abraham, the Nation of Israel, them being slaves in Egypt, and their deliverance out of Egypt, and all of the stories of King David, the prophets, the Temple, Jesus being born and dying and raising from the dead, the disciples going out all over and starting churches, Christians giving their lives for the cause of Christ all throughout church history---ALL OF IT IS THE STORY OF GOD CHOOSING YOU!

In your life, as a believer in Christ, God has equipped you, and He wants to empower you to live this life victoriously. 
And God is so wise and amazing, that when He put all of this together for you, He didn’t complicate it.
